Egregious & sacrifice

I'm picking two words, because I can. And because I can't decide between the two.

Being that it's black history month and since women's history month is up next, I determined this word appropriate. I mean the injustices have been egregious, right? Obviously, your picture doesn't have to interact with either of these two issues but being that these are the paramount issues regarding egregious injustice, it probably will.

My second word is denial. Today is Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday. This means tomorrow is Ash Wednesday and Lent begins. I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to give up, I have some ideas but I Lent is on the forefront of my mind and so therefore, is denial.

Bonus points to the sister who can encapsulate these two words together in a photo. And bonus points to the sister who captures these words beautifully in two separate photos. Since Herrington's are winners I'm setting up an impossible to lose, winning situation here. "Do your worst" (and by worst, I mean best).

Fan mail

Sisters are weird. I was thinking about my post today and took pictures for it 6 hours ago but haven't had a chance to write a bit and put it up. I haven't even read yours yet Rach, I didn't want to be influenced by your genius.

It was visceral, it wasn't reasonable, it wasn't intellectual. It was all emotive and feeling, instinctual, frontal feelings. It was immediate and unwavering, coming home to lily's on my bedside suitcase. Part of me hates to admit it, but I loved feeling cared for in this way. I was surprised and cared for and appreciated and thought of.

Thanks Em!

where my mind goes

Visceral : not intellectual : instinctive

I saw this store(/restaurant/club/obviouslydnotthatobservant?) sign and immediately my mind went to Arrested Development. And that, folks, is how my mind works. Almost any situation reminds me of a scene or line from a movie or show. It's usually inappropriate for the situation and I find myself laughing. By myself.
I would like to think that my quote memorization skills were something intellectual but those skills don't translate into any productive area of my life. Quotes just happen. Instinctively.

Buster: I ought to point to Uncle Oscar's Charlie Browns next time you're on top of him, mother.
(cue George Michael walking down the street to the sad-day Charlie Brown theme song.)

Takin' it Easy

Time Spent with my baby sister in the woods, on a swing, at a Jackson Browne concert, in my lap in a hot tub (telling me of the woes of a high school girl), that for me is rest.

give it a rest

True confessions: sometimes I am envious of my cats. They spend 80% of their days sleeping (or something like that).
I have been so overwhelmed with school this semester. I feel like I am always reading. I get up early to read, I stay up late to read, and in between I write papers. I know, it's college, it's all part and parcel. But seriously, exhaustion sucks. How long can a person maintain that kind of routine?
The other day I was studying in bed (that was my first mistake) and Houston was sprawled out at the foot of the bed. I'm pretty sure I just stared at him for five minutes, wishing I could just shut my eyes for a few moments. So, I followed suit: thirty glorious minutes of sleep. Naps are the cure for exhaustion.

Cats are geniuses. And anti-social. But I think those things go hand-in-hand.

Rest

I've been exhausted lately. Like, I want to sleep all the time. Encapsulate for me, photograph please the thing that alleviates tire, exhaustion, sleepiness, weariness...
